History of Cyberjaya

The idea of an IT-themed city, Cyberjaya, arose out of a study by management consultancy McKinsey for the Multimedia Super Corridor commissioned by the Federal Government of Malaysia in 1995. The implementation agency was the Town & Planning Department of the Ministry of Housing and Local Government. Multimedia Development Corporation (MDC), the agency for implementing the MSC was located in Cyberjaya to oversee the creation. The real estate implementation was privatized to Cyberview Sdn Bhd in early 1997, comprising of subsidiaries of local companies Peremba, Renong, MK Land, County Heights, Golden Hope and companies of Selangor state government. Kejayaan Cyberjaya


Satu ketika dahulu, Cyberjaya pernah digelar ‘bandar hantu’ ekoran beberapa projek pembangunan dan infrastruktur di bandar pintar itu yang lambat disiapkan.Namun, kini gelaran itu sudah tidak sesuai digunakan kerana terdapat banyak syarikat besar menjadikan Cyberjaya sebagai lokasi operasi dan mengembangkan perniagaan mereka.Kejayaan Cyberjaya mengekalkan imej canggih sebagai nukleus dan hab kepada Koridor Raya Multimedia (MSC) menjadikannya pilihan banyak syarikat berteknologi tinggi.Contohnya, syarikat pengeluar komputer terkemuka dunia, Dell memilih Cyberjaya bagi membina pusat teknologi dan pembangunan produknya.Syarikat lain yang menjadikan Cyberjaya sebagai pusat operasi mereka termasuk Siemens AG, Automobiles Peugeot, DHL dan Matsu#a Electric Industrial Co. Ltd.Selain syarikat berasaskan teknologi dan komputer, Universiti Multimedia yang terletak di Cyberia, satu kawasan di tengah Cyberjaya, turut dibangunkan.

KL-Putrajya Highway a link direct to KLIA


The Maju Expressway (MEX), formerly known as the KL-Putrajaya Highway, will soon have a link to the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).Eyes on the highway: The Traffic Control and Surveillance System (TCSS) allows monitoring of vehicles getting onto and exiting the expressway.The expressway was completed on Dec 5 last year and has two toll plazas, at Salak South and Putrajaya. The 26km expressway, which connects Putrajaya, Cyberjaya and KLIA, includes a 9.5km elevated section. The concession period is for 33 years, beginning from Oct 28 2003.The expressway provides a link between the MRR1 and MRR2 and other highways such as Besraya, KL– Seremban, New Pantai Expressway and Kesas.There are five interchanges which motorists can use to access the road: Kampung Pandan, Salak South, Kuchai Lama, Bukit Jalil and Putrajaya Link.The expressway has rest areas, Traffic Control and Surveillance System (TCSS), variable message system, emergency telephones every 2km, induction loop traffic sensors, video detection in real time, a 24-hour dedicated security force and noise barriers.
